H20-proof your Tunes
$99 case, $49 headphones, www.h20audio.com
The weather is getting better and it’s time to get outside...or in SoCal,
get in the water!
Your best companion for a day of surfing, swimming, or even just sipping drinks on a raft, your now waterproof iPod. This case and headphones (specially designed to work together) keep your little baby dry in up to 10’ of water and the Commander Scroll Wheel allows operation of the iPod underwater or while you are wearing gloves.
The headphones are built to perform above or below water. They have silencing earplugs that help keep water out of the ear for an extended period of time and the reactive coil cord flexes with your movements. No more getting your arm tangled up in a stray cord or having your headphones yanked out by a cable wound up too tight.
Put them together and you have a great summer companion...
for a little alone time.

Something you may not know about your trash...

Did you know that anything electronic should not be disposed of in the regular trash? Televisions, computers, cell phones, batteries, your old Discman...all of it contains chemicals that, if placed in a landfill, can leech into and contaminate groundwater supplies. Don’t worry, the city and some private businesses have made it really easy to dispose of these things properly and the added bonus is they can recycle a lot of it too! L.A. County runs several Household Hazard Waste collection events as well as some permanent sites that accept electronic waste as well as household chemical waste (paint, etc), unused prescription medication, fluorescent light bulbs and more. Visit 888CleanLA.com for more and to learn what you shouldn’t be putting by the curb. If you don’t want to make a special trip to an event or center for smaller items, here are some other options for you:

Batteries
All L.A. area Jiffy Lube locations offer battery recycling as well as some hardware stores.

Cell Phones
Back to the 888CleanLA.com website for you. The state of California has partnered with a company that refurbishes working cell phones and recycles unusable or broken ones. The great part? They give you a mailing label, you just drop it in an envelope and put some postage on...a small price to pay for peace of mind.
